The 2026 felling and timber-extraction phase was undertaken under the approved felling permission. Following a community complaint, Scottish Forestry reviewed the work and confirmed compliance. The woodland is now being allowed to adjust to changed light and ground conditions before further intervention. Later access and amenity work forms part of the wider Dal an Duie programme.

Why the woodland looks different
Recovery is part of the management process.
The felling phase opened the canopy and changed light and ground conditions. The current priority is safety, monitoring and natural recovery before paths or amenity work are formalised.
